"The Process" - Golf Tip by Bob Shirey, PGA
The Process
- 1.Visualization
What you see is what you get. Visualize how you want the shot to do not what you do not want it to do. Do you want the shot to go right to left, high or low, etc. If you are visualizing what you do not want to do that is probably what you will get.
- 2. Feel
Tempo is probably the most important part of The Process. Develop a temp and swing every club with that same temp. Make it smooth not jerky. Right brain thoughts not left brain. Numbers do not work, thats left brain.
- 3. Commitment
Commit to the club you have and the shot you want to hit. When doudt enters your mind you are not commited. Commitment and tempo go hand in hand. If you have a wedge shot to the green and you find that there is a wind condition that is coming at you and you say, ¨I wonder if I have enough club¨, Are you commited? No, you are not. Your tempo will be too fast. Go to the next club and use your normal tempo.
We worry to much about our swings and not enough about the process. We have to get out of our own way and let it happen.
