Conscious Mind vs. Subconscious Mind (Continued)
“I can only describe it as a fight between your conscious and subconscious minds. Ultimately, the subconscious mind determines the actual shot.” Dave Pelz
What about your conscious mind, “What does it do?”
- It is alert and aware
- It is logical
- It analyzes – “It’s 80 yards to the flagstick, there are bunkers right and left and water behind the green and I need par on the hole to stay even.”
- Makes decisions – “I’m going to go for it.”
- Makes excuses – “If my partner hadn’t sneezed I would have made it.”
- It judges – “What a jerk! If you had played safe, you would not be in this position.”
How does your subconscious mind work?
- 1.It is not logical
- 2.It doesn’t think, it feels
- 3.It doesn’t make decisions, it responds
- 4.It doesn’t analyze or question, it gets instructions from the conscious mind
The subconscious mind stores all your long-term memory. If you let go of all those conscious thoughts and visualize how you want this shot, then your subconscious mind will reach deep down in your brain and find the shot you want to hit. All those good shots that you have hit are there, along with the bad shots. You choose from good or bad shots.
