Hunter Ranch is now hand-mowing our greens

I am pleased to announce that we are started a hand-mowing program at Hunter Ranch. This will make our good greens into great greens. Hand-mowing improves greens quality in many ways. The first thing you will notice is the finer cut quality. The hand-mowers follow the contours of the green better while causing less wear damage to the green. This enables us to cut the greens at lower height while not compromising turf health. Secondly, you will notice the improved aesthetics the hand-mowers provide. Lastly, the greens speed and smoothness will increase because of the hand-mowing program. These units will help us maintain tournament quality greens all year around.

Sonoma
State Captures 2009 CCAA Men's Golf Championship
4/21/2009

PASO ROBLES, Calif. - Sonoma State shot a final-round 1-over 289 on Tuesday and went on to capture its second straight California Collegiate Athletic Association men's golf title.

The Seawolves finished the 54-hole tournament with a 54-hole score of 3-under par 861 at the Hunter Ranch Golf Course in Paso Robles, Calif. Cal State Monterey Bay and Cal State Stanislaus tied for second, five shots back after totaling 2-over par scores of 866.

Chico State and Cal State San Bernardino tied for fourth with 4-over par totals of 868. UC San Diego (889) was fifth, while Cal State East Bay (897) and Cal Dominguez (903) finished seventh and eighth, respectively.

Senior Ricky Stockton of Cal State Monterey Bay captured individual medalist honors after carding a final-round 5-under par 67 to finish one shot ahead of Cal State San Bernardino's Micah Burke. Stockton birdied the final to claim the title.

Second-round leader Patrick Bauer of Sonoma State finished third with a 6-under par score of 210. Cal State San Bernardino's Gene Webster and Bryan Kiss of Cal State Stanislaus tied for fourth with 3-under par totals of 213.

Sonoma State is the first back-to-back CCAA Champion since Cal State Bakersfield won five straight titles from 2002 to 2007. The Seawolves are also the third multiple winner since the championship was first held in 1999.

Cal State Stanislaus captured CCAA titles in 1999, 2001 and 2007.

The final round proved to be a memorable one for Cal State San Bernardino freshman Bryan Kim. Playing in his first collegiate tournament, Kim shot a hole-in-one on the par-4, 325-yard 10th hole for a double eagle. The accomplishment helped shoot a final-round 72 and 54-hole total of 10-over par 226 to finish tied for 27th.

The Sonoma State win earned it the CCAA's automatic berth to the NCAA West Regional that is slated for May 4-6 at Wilderness Ridge Golf Club in Lincoln, Neb.
